Behind the Scenes of Our Design Process
Have you ever wondered what our process is when it comes to designing a wedding? Here is a look behind the scenes to see how we go from ideas on a mood board to executing a wedding.
Mood Board + Color Palette
We kick things off with a design discovery meeting. We get to know the couple and things that are unique to them, their relationship, and likes and dislikes. We have them envision their wedding day, what they want their guests’ experience to be, and how they want to feel. We then work our magic and figure out how that all translates into a design that is unique to them and appropriate for their venue. This all gets made into a mood board and color palette.
Flowers
When it comes to flowers, we choose blooms that are in season and go with the color palette. We create digital mockups of all the arrangements. This way clients can see the designs before we create them. This helps us know they will love the florals day of.
Stationery
One of the next steps is to design and come up with the stationery and other paper goods used day of. We like to help couples design and choose stationery that includes little touches and elements from their wedding such as a map or flowers you will see day off that tie in seamlessly with their overall design.
Rentals + Floor Plans
After the design is formulated and we get the couple’s feedback, it is time to pull rentals and create floor plans. We meticulously stress over little details such as a farm table vs a linen and what color glassware will give the perfect pop of color.
Details
One of the last steps is to fill in with small details and unique elements that really bring the vision to life. We loved the special touches we did for Y + P’s upstate wedding including a beautiful welcome bag, flags for guests to carry down from the ceremony to cocktail hour, a drink trailer for cocktail hour, a canoe filled with beer, disco balls on the dance floor with greenery on them, and s’mores kits to enjoy around the late night bonfire.
